You have not finished the join process until you click on the link in the email. Once you are redirected back to the site you will then be able to post reports. |
2. Profile Setup
In your profile you will be asked if you would like “Captain” to appear before your name in the report field. Then you will be asked if you would like to display your real name or your username. All the information below this point will be visible to anyone that clicks on your profile. You may upload a photo to your profile if you desire and include links to your own website if you have one. There are also fields for a phone number, boat name and specification and you can provide any background information you would like. |
3. Searching for Reports
There are 4 different selections to choose from when searching reports. If you would like to view all reports simply leave the fields unchanged and then click submit. You can use any combination of the search criteria to find the specific information you are looking for. The subspecies category will only be selectable if you chose a species that applies to multiple sub species. An example of this would be Tuna. If you select Tuna and no sub species you will get reports for all tuna. If you would like to get more specific such as Bigeye Tuna you will need to use the sub species field. |
4. Posting a Report
When posting reports enter your date fished in the format shown on the form. The next three fields are used to determine how your report will be found in a search. You can select up to three species for your report. Then you must choose a region and location that best describes the area you fished. Remember the site is only as good as the information entered on it, the more accurate your selections are for species, region and location, the better the information will be to the end user. You are allowed up to three photos per report. The photos can be any size and will be automatically resized by the server. The photo will be displayed as a universal icon in the report body and when selected it will open in a new window. Also any photos posted will be entered into the slideshow on the home page. The report body does not have a limit to the length and you may use copy and paste to insert text. |
A. Multiple Species
If you caught fluke, sea bass, and a bluefish list your report in all three species categories and it will be found in any of those three choices in a search. If you caught more then three species of fish, select the three that are most important. Or you may post the same report again and list it in the additional categories. |
B. Regions
The region field is broken into five choices. Choose your region based on your best judgment. If you are unsure exactly where you fished estimate to the best of your ability. This field allows the user to find reports for a particular area they plan to fish. If you fish in two regions, you can pick the one you feel is more important or you may post the same report twice and list it in the additional region. |
C. Locations
The locations are based on your proximity to land. Inland refers to anything inside of or West of the ocean. Surf is used for surf fishermen only. This refers to fishing from the beach, not a boat. Inshore is anything past the surf up to approximately 20 miles. This is just a guideline; please use your best judgment if you are unsure. Lastly offshore then applies to anything past the 20 mile mark. |
