Another very terrific trip. There continues to be lots of life in the canyons and much action. The albacores and yellow fins were all larger this time. All tunas caught weighed anywhere from 60 to 90 pounds. Again the bite started not long after we anchored up. A flurry of activity and while many tunas hit the deck, many tunas were lost due to their unexpected larger size. From 3 a.m. until dawn there was a lull in the action. The day bite was awesome! Oftentimes a dozen fish on at a time! We continued to hook into tuna and stayed late to keep the catch going, since there was no trip scheduled for this evening. Every angler hooked into 1 or more big tunas! Several anglers caught multiple fish. Brad Macullough caught the first, a big yellow fin tuna. More highlights: Young Nick Savino (15) landed a big yellow fin tuna. Stephen Craven was high hook, catching 4 yellow fin tunas. Almir Ferriera, and Chris Sands each caught 2 big tunas, their first tuna catch ever! Chris Panza hooked into half a dozen tunas; however, his buddy, Doug Johnson was more successful decking the tunas: 2 yellow fins and a long fin tuna.

Lou Vuono and his son Lewis along with daughter Leanna sailed with Capt. Paul for the first Striped Bass charter of the Fall season. Paul anchored on some good reads and it did not take long before we had our first Bass on. The Bass bit thru most of the incoming tide and Lou had the hot hand landing all 4 keepers. The group released another dozen shorts and a couple of big Blues. The water temp is holding at 68 degrees and when it drops a few degrees it can only get better. The next Open Boat Striper trip will be on Sunday Oct. 9th. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.

Back to the Hudson Canyon with better conditions and fishing continues to be plentiful with a great catch! The bite came with some schools of tuna moving through during the night. Some fish were caught and hit the deck, and some swam away with the bait or spit the jig. There was more action at daybreak with several more fish hitting the deck. We continue to catch a mix of yellow fin tunas along with long fin tunas. Some of the long fins were as small as 30 pounds, the yellow fin weighed up to 80 pounds. This proved to be a great trip for half the boat that each caught more than 1 big tuna. Collette Tabor, Ken Brockel, Jeff Adams, and Vince Marino each landed 3 big tunas! Several anglers each had 2 tuna. Many were thrilled to land 1 big tuna. Don’t wait. Call Cindy to make your reservation now!
